Steeped in the traditions of country & roots music, the journey of American recording artist & songwriter Sterling Drake has taken him from the mountains of western Montana to the heart of Music City, USA and everywhere in between. With a passion for honest storytelling, Sterling shares his own lens on the American songbook.
Drake was introduced to country music in his native state of Florida where his family operated Calusa Ranch, three sections in the heart of the Big Cypress National Preserve. It was here through his grandfather that he was introduced to the sounds of legends Waylon Jennings and Roger Miller. His musical journey began during his teenage years spent away from the ranch, where he found himself drumming in hardcore bands—a far cry from the world of country music he would return to through songwriting. Driven by his passion for horsemanship and livestock, he followed his heart westward eventually working in Montana where he now calls home.
Drake's musical influences are as diverse as the roots of country music themselves, ranging from western, folk and Appalachian music to the rebellious spirit of outlaw country and the infectious rhythms of western swing. Drawing inspiration from idols such as Ralph Stanley, Willie Nelson, Bob Wills, Norman Blake, and many more. Sterling Drake has honed his craft to reflect the essence of those who came before him while forging his own sound.
Drake's live shows are a kaleidoscope of musical influences, reflecting the countless styles that have seeped into his repertoire. Each performance is a masterclass in versatility, seamlessly shifting from one form to another, showcasing his musical prowess and ability to connect with audiences from all corners of Americana genre.
As a risk-taking traditionalist, Sterling breaks through the common idioms of country music, instead speaking directly to the heart and soul of its fans. Drake's journey serves as an inspiration for those who seek to carve their own path, reminding us that the pursuit of passion knows no boundaries.
With two sophomore EP’s under his belt Drake plans to release a debut record in 2024.

“Roll The Dice” marries the production value and elements of old country from the past with a contemporary presentation. This 7 song volume showcases pedal steel work of Grand Ol Opry Player Tommy White, emotive rhythm from Nashville's iconic bassist Dennis Crouch, and harmonica from the legend Charley McCoy. “Roll The Dice” was written over a short time when Drake spent his time living his lyrics in the heart of Nashville at his go-to honky tonks.
